They are mostly too busy to entertain, but three or four times a year these women have a big party.
The living room is left empty of furniture so that the couple's daughter - a competitive skater - can have a high-ceilinged home gym and open floor space.
The family has two large folding tables, so on occasion they push the gym equipment to the end of the room, draw curtains across it, and nicely seat sixteen for dinner.
The refrigerator of the admittedly-small kitchen is moved to the back wall of the kitchen which creates space for a big counter where the family can prepare food, gather, and eat. There is a dishwasher under the sink, big enough for their needs.
While there isn’t loads of kitchen storage the parents point out that there’s always someone available to run to the basement for an extra gallon of milk.
They’ve added a snack station over the washer/dryer, and when they’re doing a Big Cook Project they add a portable oven to the garage.
The room built as a dining room is used as a cozy living room with a large sectional sofa. The basement is roughly finished as a hang-out for the children and a pantry, and each child has their own bedroom.
The enclosed porch stores a huge array of sports equipment and camping gear.
(During the Pandemic, to create work-at-home space, they parked both cars in the driveway, used the garage for the sports gear, and used the enclosed porch as a home office.)
